A packer is an integral part of any shipping or manufacturing operation, responsible for preparing items for shipment. This includes selecting and packaging items according to specific instructions, labeling packages appropriately, weighing and measuring items, and ensuring all necessary documentation is included. Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and physical stamina are essential in this role, as packers must often work quickly and efficiently to meet production goals while maintaining accuracy and safety standards. Successful packers have a strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work well as part of a team.

General tasks:

• Operating packing machines and loading them with packing materials as required
• Retrieving requested goods from storage
• Preparing and packing the goods to get them ready for shipment
• Labelling packages, making special notes of fragile or perishable items
• Loading finished packages onto delivery trucks
• Counting and correctly recording all packed items
• Performing general warehouse duties such as monitoring inventory levels or basic cleaning
